Adjusting to life in a new country can be difficult, especially for those who have fled war and violence. That’s why we created the Buddy Program where dedicated and compassionate volunteers are matched with Ukrainians to form meaningful, supportive relationships.

What is a Buddy?

A Buddy is a central line of contact for Ukrainians, providing support as they adjust to new lives in Denmark. A Buddy relationship can cover a wide range of aspects of life like personal talks, professional advice, and tips and tricks around life in Denmark and Danish society. Together you decide when and how you spend time together. It’s all about making a positive impact on the lives of our Ukrainian friends and creating a lasting, meaningful friendship.

Get a Buddy

This is how the program works

1. Sign up
Sign up for the Buddy program by filling out our online registration form.
2. Onboard
Join our community and read our downloadable handbooks to get familiar with the Buddy program.
3. Match
The Buddy applicant is matched with a suitable Ukrainian counterpart based on multiple factors.
4. Connect
Once we've matched you, we'll notify you and provide you with helpful information for your initial meeting.
5. Meet up
The Buddy meets up with their Ukrainian counterpart to get to know each other, set goals, and plan their activities.
6. Check-in
We'll have regular check-ins to get feedback, address challenges, and provide support throughout your partnership.
